Andy Wirth is the Chief Executive Officer of Squaw Valley Ski holdings affiliated to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski resorts located in Olympic Valley, CA. The cheerful President was appointed to his current position in the resort in 2010. He successfully runs the resort which is widely recognized in the U.S as the largest ski area. It was the host site of the entire 1960 Winter Olympics. Most of the travellers who visit the resort are outdoor lovers with an interest in mountains games. Squaw Valley has beautiful snow-hooded mountains that attract over 600,000 skiers a year.
Before taking up the leadership position at Squaw Valley Ski holdings, Wirth worked in Intrawest as a Chief marketing officer and Vice-president. He began his career in hotel and mountain resorts 29 years ago when he took up a position in Steamboat Spring Resort in 1986. He graduated from Colorado States University a B.Sc.
His works of philanthropy are plenty. He is known for his work in promoting environmental conservation. In community service, Mr.Wirth has contributed to worthy causes and is a member a member of “Founders Circle” of the Tahoe Fund. He is a huge contributor to community service organizations such as the Humane Society of Tahoe Truckee, The McConkey Foundation, The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation Community House, Girls on the Run Sierra Chapter, High Fives, and the Truckee River Watershed Council. In community organizations, Wirth has served in several positions such as being a board member in Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and Yampa Valley Regional Airport Advisory Board. He has also served in North Routt Fire Protection District, North Routt Fire Protection District and Volunteer Fireman.
He has several accolades to his name. The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board of Trustees awarded him the Chairman’s Outstanding Service Award. He also received the Steamboat Springs Business Leader of the Year Award and made list in the HSMAI Top 25 Minds in Hospitality and Travel Sales and Marketing. Disabled Sports USA recognized Wirth as Citizen of the Year in 2014 and he received the Community Five Award.
He was recently appointed as chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board and took up this position in July 9. The Chairman was very eager to start working with RSCVA stating that he was honored to represent the RSCVA and to serve as Chairman of an entity that is vital to our regional economy. He further noted that enhancing air service is vital to the ski industry, gaming and business community. He has a load of experience in the hotel and international resort management which made him the best candidate for the chairmanship.
The CEO enjoys outdoor games such as skiing and sky diving. He also engages in other sports like cycling and running. He is a tri-athlete too. He is a father of three and a husband to Karen deRiddler.
