Indianapolis Colts Hire Frank Reich

The Indianapolis Colts had a very poor season in 2017. The team fired their coach of the last six seasons right after the 2017 season ended.

The Colts thought that they had their coaching needs taken care of when they asked Josh McDaniels from the Patriots to take up the team’s head coaching job. However, McDaniels backed out of his deal with the Colts leaving the team searching for a replacement.

The Colts didn’t waste time in finding a head coach. The team has signed Frank Reich for the position. Frank Reich was the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles who just won their first Super Bowl last week.

Frank Reich has been a coach with the Colts before. From 2008 to 2011, Reich was an assistant and then the quarterback’s coach. He also served as a wide receiver’s coach with the Arizona Cardinals, and he was offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers.

Before becoming a coach, Frank Reich had a long career as a quarterback in the NFL. He was a backup for Jim Kelly at Buffalo for many seasons. Late in his career, Reich had starting quarterback opportunities with the New York Jets and the Detroit Lions.

The Colts hope that Reich will be able to help Andrew Luck develop into the quarterback that many believe that he can be. Last year, Luck was out of action for the entire season. With the help of Frank Reich, the Colts hope that Luck will come back strong sparking the team to a better season in 2018.
