Dr. Saad Saad has spent the majority of his four decades in medicine providing complex, life-saving surgeries on children of all ages. Though headquartered in the American state of New Jersey, Saad has performed surgeries on children in many other countries and has traveled to Jerusalem eight time to perform free surgeries to children as part of medical missions to the country of Israel.
Dr. Saad was born in Palestine to a family that included eight children. The Saad family moved to Kuwait early in his childhood and education was obviously a major focus of family life. The Saad children now include three surgeons, two engineers with Master’s degrees, an educator, and two PH.Ds.
Dr. Saad received his medical degree from the Cairo University in Egypt nearly 50 years ago. Saad graduated second in his class and was recognized with honors distinctions. Dr. Saad credits his success in education to the fact that being a child born to a family of modest financial means made it absolutely necessary for him to do as well as possible in medical school.
As a third-year medical student, Saad was able to purchase a plane ticket to Beirut, Lebanon where he sat for the ECFMG exam. His passing of the exam provided him with the opportunity to study in the United States. Saad credits the experience with permanently changing his life.
Dr. Saad traveled to England to complete his internship then arrived in America 45 years ago then completed his residency on his way to becoming a United States board-certified pediatric surgeon.
One of the many highlights in the career of Dr. Saad Saad saw him serve as both the Co-Medical Director as well as Surgeon-in-Chief at a children’s hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey that was part of Meridian Health Care System. Dr. Saad’s efforts in pediatric surgery is well-respected in the community and he is looked at as an innovator in the field by both his peers and the countless kids that have come after him.
Dr. Saad and his family benefitted from a unique opportunity in the 1980’s when he was requested by the Saudi Royal Family to become their personal pediatric surgeon. Dr. Saad was specifically qualified for this position as there was no other pediatric surgeon that was certified in the United States that was a fluent speaker of both English and Arabic.
The experience in Saudi Arabia was fulfilling professionally as well as personally for Saad and his family. The surgeon enjoyed putting his expertise to work performing procedures on distinguished patients and became well-trusted by the Saudi Royal Family.
