Colts Set For Draft

During the 2017 NFL season, the Indianapolis Colts were considered one of the more disappointing teams in the league. During the season, the Colts only ended up winning four games while losing 12. While the team did not do very well during the year, much of the reason for the down year was due to injuries. Starting quarterback Andrew Luck ended up missing the entire year, which prevented the team from being able to move the ball consistently.

Despite the struggles in 2017, fans of the Colts still have plenty of reason for optimism for the future. One of the main reasons for this optimism is backed up Andrew Luck should be able to come back in full strength next year. When Luck has been on the field, he has been considered one of the top quarterbacks in the league and should be able to continue till be the offense in the coming years. Furthermore, the team has one of the best young wide receivers in the league in TY Hilton. Last year was a down year for Hilton as well, but once Luck is back Hilton is bound to regain his Pro Bowl form.

As the 2018 NFL offseason continues, the main focus for the team will be on the upcoming draft (https://www.stampedeblue.com/2018/4/5/17200340/tremaine-edmunds-fantastic-option-for-colts-at-no-6). At the end of the season, the Colts held the number three overall pick in the draft. This gave the team a lot of options when it came to looking to make a trade or even draft a player very high. Ultimately, they decided to swap first round picks with the New York Jets, who held the number 6 overall selection and also gave up some other picks as well.

At the number six pick, the Colts will look for ways to improve their defense. While they may be interested in getting Saquaon Barkley if he falls that far, the team will likely end up trying to draft a defensive star. The two key players overall that could fall to that point are Tremaine Edmunds and Bradley Chubb. Edmunds was a star linebacker from Virginia Tech and Chubb played at NC State. Both players should be top 10 selections and could be available for the Colts when their pick comes up.

Colts Hire Frank Reich

The Indianapolis Colt’s search for a new head coach to replace the recently fired Chuck Pagano has not come without its own set of drama. They thought they had the man for the job when they reached a verbal agreement with the Patriots offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels. Unfortunately for Indy, he backed out on the deal at the last second, leaving the team scrambling for a solution before the offseason gets underway.

Just days ago, they announced that they have reached a deal with longtime NFL backup quarterback, Frank Reich. NFL fans may remember Reich for his tenure as Jim Kelly’s backup during the period when they dominated the AFC in the early 1990s, making four consecutive Super Bowls. It is interesting to note that his most recent position was as the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, who just beat McDaniel’s Patriots in the Super Bowl.

This could be a delicate situation for some. Knowing you were not a team’s first choice can’t be a great feeling. Reich has handled the situation well, though, even joking that he is used to being second banana thanks to his NFL career as a backup. While he wasn’t team owner Jim Irsay’s first choice, he was considered as a finalist for the position during interviews in December.

This could be a great match for the team overall. The Colts’ quarterback, Andrew Luck, has had injury issues over the last few seasons and Reich is well-known for his ability to develop quarterbacks. Most recently, he helped turn the Eagle’s first pick in the draft, Carson Wentz develop into an MVP-level player in just a couple years.

Indianapolis Colts Hire Frank Reich

The Indianapolis Colts had a very poor season in 2017. The team fired their coach of the last six seasons right after the 2017 season ended.

The Colts thought that they had their coaching needs taken care of when they asked Josh McDaniels from the Patriots to take up the team’s head coaching job. However, McDaniels backed out of his deal with the Colts leaving the team searching for a replacement.

The Colts didn’t waste time in finding a head coach. The team has signed Frank Reich for the position. Frank Reich was the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles who just won their first Super Bowl last week.

Frank Reich has been a coach with the Colts before. From 2008 to 2011, Reich was an assistant and then the quarterback’s coach. He also served as a wide receiver’s coach with the Arizona Cardinals, and he was offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers.

Before becoming a coach, Frank Reich had a long career as a quarterback in the NFL. He was a backup for Jim Kelly at Buffalo for many seasons. Late in his career, Reich had starting quarterback opportunities with the New York Jets and the Detroit Lions.

The Colts hope that Reich will be able to help Andrew Luck develop into the quarterback that many believe that he can be. Last year, Luck was out of action for the entire season. With the help of Frank Reich, the Colts hope that Luck will come back strong sparking the team to a better season in 2018.

Colts Work Out Multiple Quarterbacks

The quarterback was supposed to be the most stable position for the Indianapolis Colts, but that has not been the case during the 2017 season due to Andrew Luck’s lingering shoulder injury. Luck has failed to practice all season, and the Colts have very little incentive to play him if he does get healthy this year. Luck’s return looks even more unlikely with the Colts bringing in four quarterbacks for a workout today.

The four quarterbacks that were seen working out in Indianapolis today were Matt McGloin, Connor Shaw, Josh Johnson and Matt Barkley. While they all have some minor experience in the NFL, none of them have been very successful when given an opportunity to start. Josh Johnson is the most intriguing player on this list because of his ability to create plays outside of the pocket, but he is winless in five career NFL starts.

This is a key sign that the organization is not expecting anything from Andrew Luck this season. There is simply no reason to bring in another quarterback if Luck is going to return in the near future. While Jacoby Brissett has performed adequately as the starting quarterback this season, he has taken a lot of hits recently. Brissett has been sacked a total of 14 times in the last two games. The Indianapolis Colts know that they are one big hit away from only having Scott Tolzien as their only healthy quarterback on the roster, so they are preemptively preparing for a worst case scenario with the workout today.

Colts Tickets go on Sale

The Indianapolis Colts have been one of the msot popular teams in the NFL for the past 20 years. Ever since Peyton Manning was drafted by the Colts, the team has been pretty successful and has had the ability to sell out most games at their stadium. This tradition of sellouts and team success then continued when they drafted Andrew Luck about five years ago. While most of the tickets in the stadium go to season ticket holders, those that are looking to go to just one game could get a single game ticket in the next week (https://patch.com/indiana/indianapolis/indianapolis-colts-2017-single-game-tickets-sale-thursday).

The Colts announced that fans of the team will be able to buy tickets starting in late June through the team webiste. The tickets will be available on a first come first serve basis and are expected to sell out quickly. The prices for single game tickets will range from $56 up to $168 per ticket.

Those that are looking to go to a game will be able to get a bargain if they are willing to go to a preseason game against either the Lions or Bengals. Some other games that will offer lower prices include games against the Browns and 49ers. The Colts will also host a number of top teams, including the Steelers and Cardinals that are sure to get higher tick prices. There are also several two-game ticket packages available, which can help you to save money.

While there is a limited supply for tickets available for sale, fans can still get into the games by purchasing them through the secondary market. These tickets are fully verified, but often cost more money than the face value. Depending on how well the team does during the season, the secondary market prices could also end up increasing quite a bit.

Colts Say Line Problems are Over

Over the past five years, the Indianapolis Colts have been one of the hardest teams in the NFL to predict. In this time period, the Colts have had a moderate level of success behind the leadership of young quarterback Andrew Luck. Luck, who was the first overall pick out of Stanford about five years ago, has shown that he is one of the most talented young players in the league. At the same time, the offense has been led by a talented group of wide receivers and running backs.

While the team has had a lot of talent at the skilled positions, the Colts have still struggled to make the playoffs. Last years, the Colts finished in second place in the division, but once again failed to make it to the post season. One of the bigger weaknesses that the team has had was their offensive line. Over the past five years, Luck has been sacked more times than any other quarterback and the team has also struggled to open up running lanes. While the offensive line has been weak, the Colts are now stating that the team’s offensive line issues are fixed for the next season (http://www.espn.com/blog/indianapolis-colts/post/_/id/20629/in-surprise-jim-irsay-says-colts-offensive-line-problems-are-fixed).

Head coach, Jim Irsay, has stated that the issues that plagued the offensive line last year have been worked on and have been fixed. This is a little bit surprising given the team has yet to meet for preseason practices, which is when most teams are able to evaluate young talent and determine the right lineup and schemes. Overall, the offensive line is expected to be very similar to the lineup that started the prior year. However, one of the biggest challenges that the team had last year were injuries. If the line is able to stay healthy during the long season, it should be able to build a cohesiveness that can help them to learn to play together better. This should help to open up the offense to score even more.

Colts Add Speed to Defense

For the past few seasons, the Indianapolis Colts have been one of the most anticipated teams in the league. Much of this anticipation has been due to the continued progress of their offense. Last year, the Colts’ offense took another step forward as quarterback Andrew Luck continued to look like he would soon turn into a superstar. Heading into the next NFL season, the Colts will once again look like a potential favorite in their division. While most would assume this is due to their offense, many experts believe that their defense could be what helps them win (http://www.espn.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/67163/colts-starting-defense-could-be-four-years-younger-than-2016s-slow-aging-unit).

Last year, the defense of the Colts looked good at times but started to look very slow and old by the end of the year. Much of this was due to the fact that their defensive unit is one of the older units in the league. However, this off-season the Colts have taken a lot of steps to get faster, younger, and more talented on defense.

If the current projections hold true, the average starter on the teams defense will be just 25 years old. This is a big drop compared to the prior season when the average age was just over 29 years old. Two of the biggest additions to the defense came from the NFL draft. This includes adding defensive back Malik Hooker who starred at Ohio State last year. Hooker is just 21 years old and will lead the newly revamped defense during the next season.

Indianapolis Colts Get Great Selection

The National Football League is one of the most competitive and hard to predict professional sports leagues in the world. While it can be hard to predict the success of any individual team in any given year, the Indianapolis Colts continue to be one of the most on predictable teams of all.

Three years ago the Colts won 11 games and made the playoffs before losing a close game. While the team has been loaded with talent, they have been very average over the past two seasons. In each of the past two years, the Colts have won eight games and lost another eight. This is despite having one of the best quarterbacks and wide receivers in the league. The biggest weakness that the team has had over this period of time has been their defense. However, it appears that the Colts have taken a big step forward in improving their defense of unit (http://www.ncnewsonline.com/news/malik-hooker-bound-for-indianapolis-colts/article_a9d5c10e-2bce-11e7-824e-271c32f38fed.html).

During the NFL draft, the Colts made one of the best selections overall. The team ended up selecting defense of back Malik Hooker out of Ohio state. Hooker is considered one of the most athletic and versatile players in the draft this season. Many experts on the NFL considered him to be a potential top five draft pick. Due to a lot of surprises, he ended up falling all the way to pick number 15 for the Colts. This will give the Colts great value for their selection and will help to improve a defensive back unit that could use more speed and athletic ability.

Colts Continue to Fight for Playoffs

Heading into the 2016 NFL Season, one team in the league that was expected to take a major step forward were the Indianapolis Colts. While the Colts have been competitive all season long, a recent news article (http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2016/12/12/colts-all-hope-lost/95338428/) points out that their chances of making the playoffs have been hurt by a recent loss.

In 2015, the Colts ended up finishing with a record of 8 wins and 8 losses, which was good for second place in their division, but not good enough to make the playoffs. While the Colts missed the playoffs, there was plenty of reason for optimism heading into this year. For starters, the Colts would once again have star quarterback Andrew Luck. In 2015, he was limited to play in just 7 of the team’s 16 games. Furthermore, the team focused heavily on improving its defense to make them more competitive.

Thus far, the season has been full of ups and downs. The season took a major hit this past Sunday when the Colts lost to the visiting Houston Texans. Not only did the Colts fall to a game behind the Texans in the divisional rankings, but they have lost their edge in a potential tie-breaking scenario with the team. However, the Colts still have a chance to make the playoffs if they can win their next three games, each of which is winnable. Furthermore, quarterback Andrew Luck and receiver TY Hilton have shown continued development, which will make them a force if the team makes the playoffs.

Colts Prepare for Vikings

Before the start of the 2016 NFL season, the Indianapolis Colts looked like they could be the top team in the AFC South Division and even compete for a spot in the Super Bowl. Much of the excitement was due to the continued improvement and success of Andrew Luck and TY Hilton, two of the top young players in the league.

While there has been a lot of excitement about the Colts, they have not quite met the level of expectations some set. With three weeks left in the regular season, the Colts are one game behind the Houston Texans in the division. The Colts have also lost to the Texans twice, which means they will not be able to win the tie-breaker if it comes down to it.

Ultimately, the Colts will need to win their next three games to make the playoffs. They will start their playoff goal this week against the Minnesota Vikings. Recent pregame predictions (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/week-15-preview-minnesota-vikings-034254108.html) believe that the game will be a good one and the Colts have a good chance of winning.

The Vikings are in a similar situation as the Colts in that they are a game away from making the playoffs. The Vikings are still fighting to win the division, but will likely have to make the playoffs as a wild card team. The Vikings and Colts have an interesting matchup in which the Colts strong offense will be up against the tough Minnesota defense, which has consistently shown the ability to stop top quarterbacks.
