The Chainsmokers is an American DJ/production music-making phenomenon comprised of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart. The EDM-pop duo bolted into worldwide fame with “#Selfie” in 2014, which hit the top twenty single mark in several countries. The Chainsmokers Are Not In Fact Abandoning Fans

Even though it feels like they’ve been around for ages, The Chainsmokers foray into mainstream pop has only lasted for two years so far, with several chart-topping hits. Their first top 10 single was “Roses” in 2015 and afterward, they experienced dramatic success for not only the following months but years. Comprised of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, both producers who took to being vocalists once coming into pop stardom, went on to write several other hit songs, including “Paris,” “Something Just Like This” featuring Coldplay, “Closer” with Halsey and the Grammy award-winning dance song “Don’t Let Me Down,” which also turned rookie artist Daya into a pop favorite virtually overnight.

Topping that sort of explosive success can be challenging, and there was certainly pressure for The Chainsmokers to recreate the charm and produce half a dozen additional songs that walk the fine line between EDM and mainstream pop, something the duo could easily accomplish. Taggart and Pall instead decided to take a darker route with their music, and although many would say The Chainsmokers are bringing their fans along for the ride, many of their most fervent fans are already there. The duo just recently released their new song entitled “Sick Boy,” which is only the first song in the next stage of the careers of the duo. Go To This Page to learn more.

The Chainsmokers initially consisted of Pall and Rhett Bixler, a former DJ. The Chainsmokers re-formed as an electronic music duo in 2012 under the management of Adam Alpert in New York City. Pall, who grew up being a DJ, was introduced to Taggart by Alpert, and at the time worked at an art gallery in Manhattan. Pall majored in art history and music business at New York University while Taggart was going to Syracuse University and was an intern at Interscope Records prior to meeting Pall. He began to have an interest in DJing and released a few original tunes on SoundCloud. Taggart was told by someone who worked for Alpert that a duo that he was managing had an open spot after Bixler left, which inspired Taggart to leave Maine for NYC.
