Ever since the success of last year’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” Fox has seen the door open for multiple new routes in their franchise. A new movie featuring Gambit was only of those ideas.
The new Gambit movie was one of multiple spinoff ideas that the studios had in mind, and now it has come true, though it hit a few snags regarding casting and direction. The director’s problem has now been solved, now that there’s new that Rupert Wyatt will be in the driver’s seat for the film. Wyatt is notable for being the director behind “The Gambler” and also “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” Set producer will be friend of Wyatt’s, Zeca Oliveira according to an article on dino.com.
As far as the story goes, there’s no final word on what it will be about or how it connects with the other X-Men films in the series. What is already known is that Channing Tatum has already been cast as the titular role and it is set for release in October of 2016. What is also known is that the last time the character of Gambit was in the movies, he was played by Taylot Kitsch in the 2009 movie “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” to which fans and moviegoers were left feeling insulted and unimpressed by the role that was shown on film.
Needless to say, Wyatt being in the director’s seat may prove pleasing to all fans.
