Sanjay Shah Recap

The recent Autism Rocks concert in Dubai was a tremendously popular event. Headlining the show were musicians Flo Rida and Tyga, selected for their ability to appeal to a young audience. Official DJs for the event were Fever and BFG. In addition to quality music, entertainment was provided in the form of laser tag, zip lines, crazy golf, bouncy castles, horse rides, face painting, rodeo bulls, inflatable rides, a petting zoo, and barbecue. The event was held in partnership with 117 Live.

Autism Rocks is the brainchild of Sanjah Shah Denmark. He established the organization with the goal of raising awareness of autism and raising money for research. Shah’s son was diagnosed with autism at the age of four. Wanting an innovative way to raise awareness and funds, Shah came up with the idea of concerts. The first Autism Rocks event was held in 2014, and was headlined by Prince. Since them, Snoop Dogg, Lenny Kravitz, Drake, and Michael Buble have held center stage. Shah wanted his efforts to focus on raising awareness in younger people, which led to the idea of hosting concerts.

Shah is the founder and CEO of Solo Capital Markets, an international boutique financial services firm headquartered in London. Shah incorporated the company, which specializes in consulting, professional sports investments, and proprietary trading, in September 2011. He started the company after losing his job in the financial crisis of 2009.

Sanjay initially planned to become a doctor, but after studying medicine, decided it wasn’t what he wanted to do. After studying accounting, he took jobs as an accountant for a variety of investment banks, including Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, and Merrill Lynch. Today he considers himself retired. As of January 2016, his net worth was 280 million USD. He currently owns more than 3 dozen companies, in London, the Cayman Islands, Malta, Luxembourg, Dubai, and the British Virgin Islands.

In addition to his work with Autism Rocks, Shah is a trustee of the Autism Research Trust. This organization is responsible for providing donations to Cambridge University’s Autism Research Centre. He has held the position of trust director there since January 2013.
