Carmen dethroned the city of Fishers which was named by Niche and Money Magazine as the best place to live in 2017 – and yes, Fishers is also located in Indiana.
Carmel has a population of just over 79,000 and is located a short distance north of Indianapolis. This is the second time it has been honored as best place to live. It was also named best city in 2012 by Niche and Money Magazine.
The primary area where Carmel received a less than perfect score was for its weather, but on all other counts, it commanded a lot of straight As. Categories include employment opportunities, commuting conditions, cost of living, community health status, leisure activity, nightlife, walkability, diversity, crime rate, schools, parks and more.
Carmel earned a B- score for its weather, however.
